Wales Veterinary Science Centre - Laboratory Information Management System

The Wales Veterinary Science Centre (WVSC) was appointed by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) as a partner provider to deliver expert post-mortem examinations (PMEs) of new and re-emerging diseases of farm animals, contributing to an enhanced UK-wide scanning surveillance network. The WVSC is a not-for-profit company which, in addition providing PMEs, also supports the veterinary and agricultural sectors with other diagnostic laboratory testing, advice and training.

We were tasked with setting up a full laboratory Information Management System for them and provide integration with their 3rd party automated testing machine. This was also extended to provide automated barcode labelling for additional hardware.

The British International Studies Association (BISA) is an independent academic organisation which promotes the study of International Relations and related subjects through teaching, research and the facilitation of contact between scholars. It is the professional organisation for academic and practitioners of International Relations in the United Kingdom and beyond.

As part of the annual conference management requirements, we were asked to create a Joomla component that would allow BISA members to submit proposals for the conference topics of discussion. These would then be reviewed by a panel of BISA staff, if approved, would then need to be allocated to specific time slots within rooms for that conference. Automated conflicts of allocations were a requirement and batch processing and email notifications were also part of the module requirements.

The British International Studies Association (BISA) is an independent academic organisation which promotes the study of International Relations and related subjects through teaching, research and the facilitation of contact between scholars. It is the professional organisation for academic and practitioners of International Relations in the United Kingdom and beyond.

We developed a Joomla powered Content Managed Website with custom written modules and components that would allow them to manage their membership. The system provides multiple summaries and exports and also supports online payments for membership and conference ticket payments.

We continue to work with BISA and provide ongoing support and incremental additions to their web application.
